Shrewsbury vs Exeter - Preview & Tip
Category: England League Two
Venue: Greenhous Meadow Stadium
Kick Off: 11-4 at 16:00 CET
Shrewsbury Town registered a vital 1-0 win away at Mansfield Town on Sunday which chalked up a fifth consecutive League Two win and they’re now just one point behind league leaders Burton Albion.
The Shrews have come good at just the right time following a shaky period during February and March where they secured just one win from a worrying five match period. However, they’ve bounced back in some style having racked up wins over Morecambe, Oxford United, Portsmouth, Dagenham and Mansfield Town.
Their form at their Greenhous Stadium has been almost perfect as their record stands at a very impressive 15-4-1 38/9 which includes 13 clean sheets, and perhaps unsurprisingly, they possess the best home record in League Two.
Visitors Exeter City are also on a good run of form at the moment having remained unbeaten in their last eight matches overall, and they currently sit in 10th place just one point behind Newport County in the play-off pack.
Recent wins over Carlisle, AFC Wimbledon, Cheltenham Town, Luton Town and Newport County have been good results for The Grecians, and they’ve also won their last three away matches on the trot. Their away record reads 9-5-6 29/28 but this suggests that they concede goals as well as score them on a regular basis.
Dig a bit deeper and you’ll find that this is exactly the case as they’ve kept just two clean sheets on their travels all season, a statistic which will interest the likes of Shrewsbury forwards Collins, Mangan, Grant and Akpa Akpro.
Despite Exeter’s improvement in results, I can’t see past Shrewsbury here particularly with home advantage, although a single goal may just be the difference here. Shrews to win 1-0.
Bet: Shrewsbury straight win @ 1,70
