Championship Betting Preview - 12/13 March
Today, on the island we have a lot of games that are very interesting for betting. I'll deal with in this article only with those games from the Championship, which will be particularly interested in and where you do not know how to bet on them. Let's kick it...
Middlesbrough v Nottingham Forest
Middlesbrough won their first game in eight on Saturday with a 2-0 home win over Ipswich at the Riverside. Danny Graham scored a brace which ended their seven game goal drought and earned them a valuable three points.NottinghamForest lost their third game in a row on Saturday with a 1-0 away defeat to bottom of the table Barnsley and have now gone four games without a win. They have only scored two in their last three games and conceded eight.Forest’s recent form will be a concern for Billy Davies and he has little time to put it right with their second away game in four days. Middlesbrough’s tight defence have not conceded at the Riverside in their last seven home games, so I would expect them to pick up their second win on the bounce.
Verdict: Middlesbrough
Yeovil v Ipswich
Yeovil are unbeaten now in five games and secured their second home win in a row at HuishPark on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday. This run has seen them take nine points out of a possible fifteen available and pulled them to within two points of safety.Ipswich lost 2-0 away to Middlesbrough on Saturday and have only won once in their last five games. McCarthy’s men have conceded five in their last two away games and have failed to hit the net on both those occasions.Ipswich are struggling away from Portman Road of late and can’t seem to make their way into those play off places. Yeovil’s home games are going to be crucial to their league survival and with the form they’re in I fancy them to pick up their third home win in a row.
Verdict: Yeovil.
Birmingham v Burnley
Burnley came from a goal down to take a 2-1 victory over Blackburn in the East Lancashire derby at EwoodPark on Sunday. This was Burnley’s third win in a row after two home victories against NottinghamForest and Derby.Birmingham have now gone 12 home games without a win after losing 2-0 to QPR at St Andrews on Saturday. This latest result will have Lee Clark looking worryingly over his shoulder as the Blues are now only seven points above the drop zone.Birmingham’s home form is poor to say the least and the prospect of facing Burnley on Wednesday night will not breed any confidence. Burnley look unstoppable at the minute and I can’t see anything other than an away win in this one.
Verdict: Burnley
Wigan v Sheffield Wednesday
Wigan had no fixture in the Championship this weekend, as they were busy dumping ManchesterCity out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory at the Etihad on Sunday. They have won their last four league games and are level with sixth placed Reading.Sheffield Wednesday lost 2-0 away to Yeovil on Saturday and in their last six games they have won three and lost three. The Owls are sixteenth in the table and ten points clear of the relegation places.Sheffield Wednesday are capable of getting results away from home, however Wigan are one of the form teams in the Championship and very hard to beat at the DW Stadium, so I fully expect another three points for Athletic on Wednesday night. Verdict: Wigan
