Shefield United vs Peterborough
Mid-table Sheffield United will be looking to continue their revival on Tuesday night when they entertain Peterborough United at Bramall Lane as they go in search of a sixth successive League One win.
Five wins on the trot over Shrewsbury Town 2-0, Gillingham 1-0, Bristol City 3-0, Colchester United 1-0 and the weekend win at MK Dons 1-0 has lifted The Blades up into the safety of mid-table and perhaps there maybe even a slight glimmer of attaining a play-off spot but their bad start to the season has probably left them too much to do this time around.
Manager Nigel Clough has lifted his players and they have responded well in recent weeks and their overall home record has improved to a more acceptable 7-5-3 23/14 with a run of seven matches now without defeat which includes a point off Walsall and a 1-0 win over Swindon Town. Most likely anytime goalscorers are Baxter (5 goals) and Porter (4 goals) with McGinn (5 assists) supplying the opportunities.
Visitors Peterborough United continued to cling onto the last remaining play-off position despite going down 0-1 away at Crawley Town on Saturday as The Posh are five points clear of closest rivals Swindon Town.
However, you just never know what you’re going to get from Peterborough from week to week as recent results indicate – lost 4-5 at Oldham Athletic, beat Leyton Orient 2-1 away, drew 0-0 with Walsall at home, won 1-0 at Stevenage then lost at Crawley. But looking at their away form overall you can see that they’ve suffered the most number of defeats in the top six (8) with an overall away record of 7-2-8 31/27.
It’s also worth mentioning that Peterborough have won just twice on their travels in their last eleven matches which surely gives the hosts more than a glimmer of hope of getting at least a point here tonight.
Sheffield United have certainly lifted their game and their morale in the last few matches and are seemingly now on a roll having also kept five clean sheets in a row. I’ll therefore back The Blades with the round ball tonight as I see them getting at least a draw out of Posh tonight. Could be a 1-1 draw or United might nick it perhaps 1-0.
Tip: Sheffield United AH0 (Draw No Bet)
Odds: 1.93
